The trays at the top show which colors to collect. Click a screw that matches one of those trays: it moves up into the matching tray. In the opening check, collecting three blue screws cleared their tray; a group of three cyan screws worked the same way. Use the active colors as your guide rather than choosing the nearest screw at random.
Watch the boards and the available space
Removing screws changes the boards below. In the first scene, the green board fell away after its screws were removed. A limited row of dark spare slots is also visible between the boards and the trays. Keep both the board layout and the current tray colors in view when choosing your next screw; completing the whole level was not part of the basic check.
